Character Name: Madge Undersee
Character Canon:The Hunger Games, Original Universe
Character Age/Gender: 17, Female
Canon Point: End of Catching Fire
Character Canon History: Here
Character Personality:
Madge is very similar to Katniss in social settings. She’s noted to be very quiet in her own respect and that withdrawn personality is what drew the two of them towards each other as not-quite-friends. Their friendship stemmed from their equal dislike of being social. Madge prefers no company to that of more company and becomes withdrawn in too social of situations. She’s used to being judged for being the Mayor’s daughter, for those from the Seam presuming that she’s stuck up because she’s not only from Town, but in a position of some power. Well, her father at least.
The way she carries herself and her turn of speech contribute to this. When called out on something, she’ll snap back. Despite her quiet exterior, she’s strong with her words and fearless with her attitude. She’s, for the most part, a very genuine and caring person. However, cross her and you’ll regret it. She’s not afraid to snap back and stand up for herself. When it gets to be too much, however, she may start to withdraw and kill them with her silence and harsh stares. She’s stubborn, set in her ways and wary of others until she gets to know them better.
Above all, however, Madge is a good friend, even to those who aren’t aware they’ve earned her friendship. She would over pay Katniss and Gale for the strawberries they sold her, visited Katniss after the Reaping and brought Gale morphling after he was whipped. She cares for others and because she’s not the best at saying it out loud or showing it physically, she feels like she has to show it with tiny gestures: The mockingjay pin and the morphling.
Being taken from Post Bombings, where she died, Madge is likely to withdraw even more into her own world and not believe many of the things she’s told. There will be times where she’ll try to break out of her shell, but more often than not, she’ll withdraw all over again. She’ll be sick often because of this until she gets irritated with the situation as a whole and will begrudgingly take the advice of others.
AU Information:n/a
Character Abilities: Madge doesn’t have any notable abilities, really. She’s the Mayor’s daughter, therefore very sheltered. She is noted to be a great pianist in the novels, so that’s something at least. Katniss had begun to teach Madge how to hunt after she returned from The Games, but having only been at it for a few months at the most, she can't even hold a candle to how talented Gale and Katniss are with it.
Character Inventory: Just whatever she was wearing when the bombings happened. Nothing with any special abilities, just a dress and a hair pin.

It was all Madge could remember: The confusion leading right up to the pain. The cries and shrieks of terror when they realized what was happening and the feeling of complete hopelessness. She hoped they survived. Everyone that could... the children, their mothers, their fathers. If she couldn’t have survived, she hoped they had. Her family had been an example: Not even the wealthiest of the District were exempt from the Capitol’s anger.
Her hand ran over her arm as she sat hunched in the corner of her room, feeling for any hint of the burns or injuries she knew she had as she’d laid there: dying. But there was nothing... Maybe that was a good thing, maybe she’d forget everything eventually if there were no reminders of home. But was that something she really wanted? Did she want to forget? Wouldn’t that be disrespectful to those, like her, who hadn’t survived?
Or would it be disrespectful to linger on the past when she was clearly given a second chance? So many questions unanswered... And not a soul here that she knew to help bring the familiarity of home back.

Apr. 26th, 2012 12:14 am Madge had to get out of the house. She couldn't stay there when she knew that her only friend was on her way to the Capitol to be put in the death match. It made her resent the ways of the Capitol even more, knowing that someone with so few entries could be the one picked.... To know that her sister had volunteered to save her life.
Without really thinking of where she'd been going, she paused as she noticed her feet had taken her to the very outskirts of the District. She pursed her lips and threw a wary glance back over her shoulder. She had wandered out of the town.... And she had completely passed the Seam. How had she gotten so far without any peacekeepers noticing? Or even without anyone in the District having stopped her? The kids from the Seam would have loved the reason to taunt her, to call her Princess and tell her she was on the wrong side of the District. The kids from Town would have stopped her to tell her to stay away from the Seam.
But no one stopped her, which was what brought her face to face with the fence. The fence that distinctly lacked a telltale hum. Was this where Katniss and Gale went to hunt? The other side of this fence? She couldn't help but wonder, and was now wondering just how out of place she must look standing there and staring. Blonde hair curling down her back, jeans that hardly looked worn and a considerably nice shirt. Maybe.... just maybe she should turn and head back home... Or to one of the shops in town. But her feet wouldn't let her. So, for now, the Mayor's daughter was just going to stand there and stare.... And contemplate ducking under that fence like she knew she shouldn't.
